As Coca-Cola’s popularity grew, so did attempts to imitate it. From 1910, the company, to protect the brand from imitations, began publishing an impressive number of text ads, often double-page spreads, warning against imitations. Sometimes, these ads directly address the reader. In some cases, they were even threatening, particularly towards druggists who sold other drinks imitating Coca-Cola.
